1. Participation 15%: The language learning process is a social communicative practice achieved through the necessary interaction. Students are expected to actively contribute to group discussion, group projects and assist in tutoring hours. The participation will also be evaluated through the students group work engagement –such as assisting the group meetings etc.

Group meetings: As you can see in the course schedule you will have two days  [Tuesdays and Wednesdays] in which your unique task –apart from the homework– is to meet with your group. I highly encourage you to meet through zoom or any other video conference call to practice together.

Weekly class participation: Since this is an online course, I believe it’s highly important for the students to meet each other and the instructor once a week in order to clarify and practice the Spanish language through oral interaction.

Discussion board: Every week your group must submit a comment in relation to the respective cultural product that we are exploring.  The participation of your group in the discussion board CineForum will be evaluated as the lab assignment. In addition a response to other group’s comments is also mandatory. (group comment + response to other group’s comment)

2. Homework 15%: Each day the students will complete small assignments.

3. Three major exams 20%: This is an opportunity to keep up with the workload, review and practice for the final project

4. Lab assignments 15% = All language classes at CUNY require students to complete one hour of language lab a week or 14 hours of Lab a semester. However, all students are required to complete at least 4 hours a semester at the Learning Center. The Learning Center has an Online-Zoom Tutoring Schedule with all the tutors and their hours. Students just need to click on the respective link of the specific tutor to join. http://www.brooklyn.cuny.edu/web/aca_centers_lc/Online_Tutoring_Schedule.pdf

The Learning Center also has guidelines to follow.

Moreover, students are required to participate in at least 4 virtual Language Lunch Tables to be held via Zoom – on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12:30pm – 1:30pm

5. Compositions 10%: The groups  will write 2 compositions of 500 words. The guidelines for this are specified in the course schedule and will be announced in BlackBoard.

6. Comprehensive final 25% : There will be one final group project. Guides and materials will be provided separately to prepare it.
